We had a great first practice last week with about 20 people, wending our way through rhythms and tunes for Girl I Left Behind, Miss MacLeod’s, Waltz of the Toys, La Bastringue and the Duchess of Hamilton.
Next practice: Sunday Feb. 22, 1 – 3:30, will be led by Lea Kirstein, wonderfully talented performer and teacher of Violin, Viola and Cello. We will do the ones we didn’t get to this time (Whelan’s, Little Burnt Potato, My Cape Breton Home and Mabou Reel) and into Newfoundland, Ireland and Brittany, time permitting.
NOTE: La Bastringue has been taken out of the opening medley and put back in the Quebec section, so it now has it’s own file. (There is also a quartet versions if there are any violists, cellos or bassists who would like to join us – always parts for those instruments to play). The chords on Girl I Left Behind and Miss MacLeod’s have been simplified, so you might want to reprint them if you didn’t pick up a copy last week.
The store is closed on Sunday, so parking in the lot is permissible on Feb. 22.
